Consider everything an experiment
…that will no doubt fail.
I learned the first line from Sister Corita Kent and the second from Seth Godin. I like it when words sellotape themselves to you like your mind is a walking notice board; they somehow know they’ll be of some use to you later in life.
Removing the threat of failure is a liberating thing when it comes to, well, anything. Treat everything like an experiment and the task becomes playful, risk-free, enjoyable perhaps. Start from a point of failure however and your thinking seems senseless, flippant, and well, bizarre.
Or so I thought.
Let it sit a while and then re-read the subheading to this post — it somehow makes the first line even more liberating…
